Happy New Year 2015!

Happy New Year, friends! I hope this year greets you with the bright eyes of hope and the ambition of doing things that make you delightful.

Looking back at 2014, it’s safe to say that it was a year of transition for me. And while some of it (aka resigning from my job) took a lot of courage to move past the inertia of being in a familiar and comfortable position, I’d by lying if I wasn’t feeling anxious of what lies ahead. I’m sitting here feeling disoriented as I don’t have a firm destination in mind yet. That leads me to start feeling guilty about my apparent aimlessness, whether that’s fair to myself or not. So my overarching theme of 2015 will be to plot my destination, to have that plan fixed in my mind so I don’t feel so aimless.

Then on to victory!

May 2015 be fruitful for you as well. Cheers!

World Ballet Day 2014!

There is essential information you need to know about today, Oct 1 –it’s World Ballet Day! Five world class ballet companies around the world are each going to stream 4 hours of company classes, rehearsals and interviews:

  • Australian Ballet
  • Bolshoi Ballet
  • Royal Ballet
  • National Ballet of Canada
  • San Francisco Ballet

20 hours in total. I typically only get to see the National Ballet of Canada, so it’s wonderful to be able to see the other companies. I’m going to be glued to Youtube for much of today! :-S

Updating my About Me page

I admit it, my first try at my About Me page kind of sucked. But thanks to a WordPress Blogging 101 assignment I’ve gone and jazzed it up! Hopefully you agree that it’s a change for the better.

(Here’s the original text for your comparison)

I am currently a Manager of Technology by trade at Accenture. (i.e. IT consulting) I do this because I love problem-solving and being part of solving an issue or challenge for a client. Building and implementing elegant solutions to complex problems with smart, dedicated, and engaging people is my idea of fun.

However, work is not (and should not) be all who I am. I love partaking in arts and culture, particularly dance. I’m informed on news and politics, and am considering getting more actively engaged. I want to be the best parent I can be so my children can grow into amazing contributors to our family and society. I’ve started this website and blog to give myself some structure and discipline for documenting, reflecting, and opining on these other aspects of my life.

Above all, I am passionate about my family. I am a wife to my beloved husband, and mother of two lively girls. It is imperative to me that I am deliberately present in their everyday lives, because they bring me so much joy.

Hello world!

Well, I’ve finally gone and done it, and have launched this little vessel of a blog into the raging data streams of the interweb. Here’s hoping that this will be a positive learning experience for all of us! ~Jen
